"Sukkah" PARTY Menu 9.29.18


Sat Night Party in the "Sukkah". Sukkot is a really fun holiday. We take the party outside into a temporary dwelling known as a Sukkah!

Party Menu:

Cocktails

Etrog Gin Fizz

1.5 oz gin

1 oz fresh Meyer lemon juice (sweeter and less acidic than regular lemons)

1 oz agave

club soda

Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into an ice filled glass, and top with club soda.

Sukka-Cumber Mojito

3 mint leaves

2 basil leaves

3 slices peeled seedless cucumber

4 oz rum

1 oz ginger simple syrup*

juice of 1/2 lime

club soda

Muddle mint, basil and cucumber, add rum, simple syrup, and lime. Shake and strain. Top with club soda, and garnish with mint and cucumber slice.

*Ginger simple syrup- in a saucepan, put 1 part water, 1 part sugar and a 2" piece of peeled fresh ginger, simmer together for 20 minutes and cool completely.

Long Lulav Iced Tea

1.5 oz vodka

1 oz brewed tea, cooled

splash of lemon juice

1/4 oz agave syrup

lemon wheel

Shake ingredients in cocktail shaker, and strain in ice filled glass, garnish with lemon wheel.

Mediterranean Barbecue:

Garlic Chili and Silan Drumsticks

*Recipe amazing on all kinds of chicken

12 Drumsticks

1/3 cup orange juice

3 tbsp silan (date paste) /or/ honey, or maple syrup

2 tbsp chili garlic sauce /or/ sriracha +2 fresh minced garlic

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp dijon mustard

salt and pepper

Marinade drumsticks in sauce and grill! (Or bake.)

Mediterranean Kabobs

No exact recipe here--

Flavors include chopped meat, fresh parsley, and cumin.

"Farmesan" Fries

Fried or baked french fries

Onion salt (Trader Joes blend)

Garlic powder

Nutritional Yeast

Sabich Bar

Creamy Hummus with sumac onions

Hard boiled eggs

Israeli salad

Fried Eggplant

Slaw

Amba/Mango chutney (homemade)

Israeli pickles

Chocolate Coconut Truffles

7 ounces biscuits 3/4 cup sugar 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 7 tablespoons almond milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 7 tbsp margarine

½ teaspoon cinnamon Desiccated coconut, in a bowl Small colored candies, in a bowl

In food processor, crush biscuits, add sugar, cocoa, and cinnamon, mix well. Add vanilla, margarine and milk.

Roll batter into tablespoon size balls, and roll into coconut or small candies and place in mini cupcake holders.
